UCP Michigan knows that people with disabilities face many barriers to transportation. We work to address these barriers and to eliminate as many as possible so that people with all disabilities can participate in their communities.
United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan works to increase the voice of people with disabilities when transportation decisions are made in Michigan. We are working to increase the knowledge of decision-makers about accessible public transportation, to increase their support for public transportation, and to increase the skills of advocates working locally for improved public transportation.
Through a grant from the Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council, UCP Michigan developed information to teach people about transportation issues and services. UCP Michigan is also working to help RICCs and other local groups learn how to advocate for better transportation.
